With SS 6.x I really liked the Dynamic Transitions plugin (http://www.sutula.us/james/slimserver/), which does crossfade if one is playing a mix of tracks from multiple albums (eg, random mix), but no crossfade when playing consecutive tracks from a given album. I've emailed the author of the plugin about updating it for SC7, but haven't heard back.
