I think the idea of starting another thread and seeing what others hear is a good idea. It would be interesting to see/hear just how widespread it is. As I said earlier, I think on broadcasts of most stereo records the 'fault' would be subtle at best and lost on many listeners, whereas this Mr. Kite example is a really obvious test that even the most cloth-eared should be able to hear.
