The answer is that, as far as I can tell, writing a plugin to automatically switch to SN when the server goes to sleep would be possible now. Not easy, but possible, and possible by an outsider (non logi) developer. Note that this would work for "server goes to sleep" and "server shuts down gracefully" but not for "server crashes" or "someone pulls out power lead".
The sticky part is the reverse, switching back to SC when it's back online.
