Using VLC player in windows it's possible to connect to the slimserver ... this plays whatever selection is set in SS as a network stream. I've tried with some other stations and they play okay.
In SS there's an option to use Softsqueeze (as a java applet in the browser). This does play the BBC streams. So, the BBC streams play on one application but not another.
