You shouldn't have to rewrite the SC7 version, as long as you have a script. But, it is all GPL so rewrite anything you want, post it for others if you like. In the end, any plugins I've written began with the purpose of demonstrating an idea. Some ideas became part of SC, others have been left as plugins. Ideally, I only do real maintenance on the ones I use everyday on my setup.
