Thanks for the reply. I'll try and set out below my thoughts on how it
could work - any other thoughts / suggestions would be very welcome.
EXAMPLE:
Artist tag: Isobel Campbell; Mark Lanegan (";" set as artist separator
in Squeezecenter)
Album tag: Ballad of the Broken Seas
Album Artist tag: Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan
Current Behaviour - tracks are scrobbled under either Isobel Campbell
or Mark Lanegan. I can't work out the logic - most are scrobbled under
Isobel Campbell but some under Mark Lanegan, although they appear to be
tagged identically.
Scrobbling under both artists is not an option as you would a) have 2
(incorrect) scrobbles for one track and b) would probably trigger the
last.fm spam filter.
Options:
1. Scrobble the album artist tag. Potential issues - compilation
albums where certain tracks have multiple artists e.g. a DJ mix album,
where a multiple artist track would end up being scrobbled with the DJ
as the artist.
2. Have SqueezeScrobbler 'create' a tag under the format "ARTIST1 &
ARTIST2", thus creating Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan in the above
example. Potential issues - this could end up in some tracks being
scrobbled as "Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan" and some as "Mark Lanegan
& Isobel Campbell". However, this is probably a tagging issue... Also,
what if the correct tag is not ARTIST1 & ARTIST2, but is e.g ARTIST1 vs.
ARTIST2?
3. Use a different tag. According to a thread on last.fm
(http://www.last.fm/forum/21717/_/384607) the standard behaviour is to
use the Composer tag, although I have been unable to confirm this, and
I'm not sure it's the right behaviour anyway.
None of the above options is perfect, for the reasons I have pointed
out (and possibly others!), but I think either option 1 or 2 would be a
big enhancement.
