I think PowerControl did have a Linux version. Alternatively, if you can write a script to do what you want (standby, shutdown, whatever) on your computer, the Execute Script plugin can be used to run it. Even better, one can map a button on the remote to the command in Execute Script; I have the 'sleep' button set to make my computer sleep.
