As far as I know it should work.

I assume you are talking about restoring a backup file in 7.0 which you
have created in 6.5 ?

Check if you get any errors in the SqueezeCenter log file.
Restore will take a while if you have a large library, so if you check
immediately after you have clicked the "Restore from file" button that
might be the problem. The restore operation will continue in the
background and there should be a log message in the SqueezeCenter log
file when the restore has finished.

Make sure the path's in the backup file is the same as where you have
the music stored in 7.0. I don't think it is possible to restore a file
with wrong paths even if you have musicbrainz tags, but I'm not
completely sure.

You might also want to try to set the plugin.trackstat logging level to
debug to make sure it actually tries to restore something by looking in
the log.
