If you have problems with the Random Mix plugin, please register this as a bug report at bugs.slimdevices.com unless there already is one registered. Post the bug number here so I know which one to look for.
I suspect the problem is when Dynamic Playlist or Random Mix plugins retrieves additional tracks to add to the playlist. This will take some time, Random Mix is a bit faster than most of the Dynamic Playlists, so that's probably why it works a bit better. I have no time to investigate this further at the moment, especially since I don't have an environment where I can reproduce the problem. However, if you register a bug report I'll look at the solution for Random Mix when it is fixed and try to apply the same to Dynamic Playlist. Another thing to test is if it works better if you empty the "Number of old tracks" tracks setting, this will show if the problem is related to the delay or if it is related to that tracks are removed from the playlist.
