Plasmas can suffer from brun in issues (newer plasmas less than older, same goes for CRT displays). LCDs can suffer from image retention issues. If they are displaying bold colours for long period of time, a faint copy of this stays on screen for a while a gradually fades. It shouldn't be permenant.
