Have tried changing the FLAC and WAV settings as you suggest but BBC streams don't work at all then (says wrong file type unable to play). I've tried increasing the radio buffer but no effect.
I expect you are right about wireless - the SB3 has never worked satisfactorily on wireless. The signal in this particular location is around 20-45% - I have substituted my SP1 and it works fine.
