Yeah, I agree -- SaverSwitcher has similar UI problems. I think it's not so bad with AutoDisplay, as I think most of us use AutoDisplay to change the settings when we expect to be asleep. > I don't think there's really a good answer, other than to override the > values totally in the plugin (ie, have a bright and a dim value in the > plugin UI), but that makes for a very confusing UI. Argh.... > Well, AutoDisplay could subscribe to prefset commands (the latest SettingsManager release subscribes to prefset and could serve as sample code). I'm not sure what it should do if my normal/bright off setting is "4", AutoDisplay dims to "0" each night, and it sees me change the brightness from "0" to "2" in the dim period -- should 2 that become the new "restore"/normal/bright setting (and start switching between bright/"2" and dim/"0")? Or should the autodisplay "dim"/nighttime setting change to "2" so that the display would switch between bright/"4" and dim/"2"? (If the plugin had "dim" and "bright" settings, it'd be much easier -- subscribeto prefset and change the appropriate plugin pref depending on when the user changed the off brightness.) I think the current behavior might actually be desirable to some -- it allows you to use the remote control to brighten the display temporarily (one night only), if you're unexpectedly up & burning the midnight oil. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ free plugins: http://www.tux.org/~peterw/#slim AllQuiet BlankSaver FuzzyTime PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock ------------------------------------------------------------------------ peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47857 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
