Another update. I guess you first need to install SlimNAS 1.0.1 and then upgrade to SlimNAS 1.1.1. following the upgrade steps on Michael's website.
I downgraded from SlimNAS 1.1.1 to SlimNAS 1.0.1. Next I upgraded to SlimNAS 1.1.1 and that does work. I now have SC7.1 running.
