Got my broadband back and also setup a clean Ubuntu install. NO problems with AlienBBC install
When users install a plugin, it is good practice to change ownership of all the plugin files to "squeezecenter" which is the userid setup to run SqueezeCenter and the owner of all other SqueezeCenter files.
