I have noticed that the XM online service has been pretty sketchy recently. I've had these same problems. They are a result of not being able to retrieve the information from the XM site (typically timing out). I don't think it is the XM plugin as I have the same problems with the web based listener on XM's site (sometimes the channel list is loaded, sometimes not).
