There is a file in the Plugins/Alien directory call custom-convert.conf - save this file and then rename the custom-convert.conf.alt to custom-convert.conf. Tnhen reboot SC.
This will remove the "--bandwidth 10000000" option on mplayer which means programs will take about 10-12 secs to start playing after presing play or ffw/rew but it should remove the problem. The problem arises because of large buffering by mplayer especially with the "bandwidth" option and the very slowness of the audio stream (it is a 16kbps mono recording - it seems RTE are still catering for the dialup modem user). Packets are not acknowledged until they are played but large buffer means packets timeout and so link is reset by RTE server.
