Assuming your server will support 7.2.1, I would definately recommend you make the jump. 7.3 is also in beta and includes a version of Alien which should be easier to install, but if you want something which is stable now please use 7.2.1.
As the BBC changes its web site its hard enough to track the changes in Alien for 7.2+, so also implementing this for 6.5 is additional work.
