Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to hide the Playlist menu on the Duet and web interface, but I think you might be able to replace it with another menu through the Custom Browse settings. As an example, you can try to replace it with the the "Dynamic Playlists" menu instead of selecting to hide it.
The problem with the Playlist menu is that the SqueeceCenter core code re-recreates it if it doesn't exist.
