OK - I rebooted and checked again. The plugin now appears in the list, but not the applet. As for cache? I don't know where to look - I'm a bit reluctant to clear the Cache folder. I don't currently have the applet installed, although I did in the past.
I'm also confused as to where the applet gets downloaded to for installation. It's not in All Users>Application Data>SqueezeCenter>Cache.
