Hi, I know Trackstat can export the ratings data and that these can currently be imported into several media players, eg. iTunes, MusicIP, but I haven't seen a solution for importing/exporting to J River Media center, which I know several folks here use. In part, I suspect, this is because J River doesn't appear to have an easy-to-implement way to import a single field, such as rating, into its database. MeSue has outlined a method she uses to sync ratings between SC and J River: she uses the Playlist Manager plugin to add songs to specific ratings playlists when she wants to change their ratings (eg, add a 4-star song to the 4-star playlist.) These playlists can be easily imported into J River where they can be mass re-tagged with the proper rating. (Transferring rating info from J River to SC can be accomplished by putting the ratings in tags and importing them using the Ratings Scan provided by Custom Scan/Trackstat.)
I wondered if Trackstat's export data could be used to streamline this process. One drawback of this method is that you can't use the nice UI for rating songs -- eg clicking on the stars that appear on the controller or the WebUI. So I'm looking for a way to use Trackstat to collect info that can be imported to J River. The easiest thing would be if Trackstat kept track of songs that have had their ratings changed. If so, this list could be grouped by rating and written to a playlist (I imagine this could be done fairly easily with some perl code.) Before I go poking around at the files, I thought I'd ask here about the feasibility of this approach. I fear that Trackstat doesn't keep track of changed files -- why should it really? In that case, can anyone suggest an alternate approach? Would it be possible for a plugin to intercept the user clicks on the rating stars and add that song to a playlist? -Steve -- wnshall ------------------------------------------------------------------------ wnshall's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5886 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57650 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
