You're right, Blue'. You need to dart about to try and get the best out
of what's there, and if you're a newbie like me it's easy to get lost
and miss the plot. (You can guess where most of the effort from these
clever guys goes! It's usually the documentation that suffers, and
that's speaking from personal experience, so no disrespect meant
there.)

Thanks, Erland. Not sure if I need less detail, it's probably an
understanding of the terminology and how it all fits together that I'm
lacking. Like Blue', I can do a bit of programming, but this seems to
need a different mindset to what I'm used to.

(I'm using SC 7.3.1, Cust'Scan 2.4 and Cust'Browse 2.6 on a Unix NAS).

Well, here goes. What I'm trying to accomplish is for a classical
organ library. Rather than divide my library I wondered if I could
just use Genre -> Organ as an entry point...?

I've started to populate my music files (FLAC) with these tags using
Mp3tag, as it seemed a good place to start but that's just me guessing
:-

GENRE - Classical;Organ (standard tag)
PERFORMER - who's playing the instrument, usually solo but can be a
duet separated by ";"
LOCATION - city and venue e.g. "Birmingham, Symphony Hall"
COUNTRY - with the option to filter into Location
LABEL - (actually ORGANISATION) recording label
SERIES - e.g. "Great European Organs"

(None of these tags would be needed in my other music.)

You'll see that I've gone a different direction to the perhaps more
normal Artist/Composer/Work route - which is probably why I came
unstuck trying to follow the Wiki example for setting up browsing for
classical music. I managed to set these up as custom tags by copying
the example in "Setup support for custom tags", and it's working fine,
but that's about it.

Requirement (initially) is to browse by any of the custom tags in
isolation, but Country really scores as a filter into Location. For
example, at the moment selecting "Netherlands" shows me all albums with
instruments in the Netherlands, whereas I'd like to browse Locations
within the Netherlands before I get to albums.

I'd like Performers sorted [last_name first_name] and to browse
[first_name last_name], but I haven't figured out how to do that either
yet.

Perhaps someone could let me know if this is all do-able, and how to
accomplish it. Alternative suggestions are, of course, more than
welcome (as long as you can follow up with instructions!)

Thanks.
