Thansk for the input.

I re-scanned the SqueezeCenter after upgrading to the DRM-free AAC
files, but do not think I re-scanned iTunes.  Which one were you
referring to?

According to what I saw, the SBR can pass through AAC files via SPDIF. 
Is that not correct?  Also, my AVP can decode them also, so that is
compatible.

Storage space is not an issue...hence the choice for .WAV.  

If .WAV files cannot be tagged, would they still show up as listed by
Artist / Album / Song?  They are being listed like that now, so I
assumed that was tagging added by iTunes.

Again, I am a newbie.
