Thanks Agillis - and congratulations on a wonderfully (especially for a novice) easy installation of VortexBox. I still can't believe I got it working!
Your suggestion re trackstats worked. But for novices even contemplating the command line is hard. For example, although I will no doubt work it out, your instruction yum -y install mplayer presumes I know where (and how) to put the mplayer file on the Linux machine (that I downloaded on Windows) to get it installed on VortexBox. I think the Squeezebox is great and VortexBox does the trick to make it an always on system independent of my Windows machine.
