Does this describe what you observe? http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html#hints e.g. if SaverSwitcher controls When Stopped, the web interface will show Date and Time when the player iss idle long enough for SS to kick in and start D&T.
What version of SS are you running?
