The latest version of AlienBBC is 2.5. You may not get all BBC menus to work/play with 2.4. BBC change their web page layout and so AlienBBC has to be updated often in order to play streams.
SSOTS is a special system and has a different mplayer to overcome issues with TS-109 OS so the problem may also be with SSOTS.
