The new schema means major changes and it also looks like it's going to introduce things like multiple libraries, smart playlists and flexible browsing. This means that the need for third party plugins for these things are less than today.
It has been stated in the Development section of the forum that SQLite will be introduced in 7.4/8.0 but the new schema won't. So due to this I feel that waiting for the new schema won't work since this might take a year or even more in the worst case. Changing to SQLite without changing the schema should be fairly simple for most functions. Updating the code is just a matter of getting the time and inspiration to do the necessary work. If Logitech decides to introduce the new schema without also adding some basic support for smart playlists and ratings there is a need for third party plugins for this. However, before I spend a lot of time upgrading the currently plugins I like to see what Logitech is going do in the core related to this. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49483 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
