I think you are mixing up the iPeng plugin (0.x) and the iPeng app (1.x). I believe you have installed bot, right? Now changing the plugin or the plugin options in SqueezeCenter will not have any effect on the app, the app is a separate application running on your iPhone/iPod.

Just press "Edit" on the Title Bar in the main menu. Although it will not work for Last.fm, only Main Menu items can be put onto the tool bar. This is a limitation which is a bit difficult to work around due to the way this controller works in iPhone.
