Hi!

I just spent most of my weekend trying to get my QNAP with slimserver
to work correctly. I have 7.3.3 installed and I have had a lot of
problems with browsing, especially genre. I do get the same problems if
I browse via the web interface, duet controller or iPod with iPeng. This
weekend I made sure I had all equipment installed with static
IP-addresses and I reconfigured my whole network. I have had this
problem since i installed the first 7-version of slimserver.

Well, this weekend I had some success. I tried Erlands custom browse
plugin instead of using the standard one. Even though it says in the
description that it should give the same type of information (for
example for genre browsing), there is a BIG difference. Browing genre
with Erlands plugin works! So, somehow Erland must use some other
SQL-statement to get the information (he should sell that to Logitech so
they can fix the standard one included with the application :) So, for
those of you having trouble, check out Erlands plugin!

This leads me to my questions. It is possible to "swap" the standard
genre browser to use custom browse instead. I have tested it in the web
interface (works fine) and will try it on the duet controller tonight.
But I don't think it is possible to do that in iPeng or ...? This would
be very nice to have since I sometimes "accidently" hit the genre button
in iPeng and that makes the whole slimserver go into zoombie mode
(mysqld or slimserver is taking up 100% of the cpu) and I have to reboot
it.

It would also be lovely to be able to have the other custom browse
features moved up in the menu system on the iPeng. As it is today, I
need to go down into the "extra" -> Custom browser menu tree to get to
them. For example, the 4 icons at the bottom of iPeng, I would like to
have "Artists", "Albums", "Genre" (custom browse), "Ratings" (custom
browse). Is that possible?

Last, but not least, it would also be lovely to be able to set the
ratings (TrackStat) of songs from iPeng. Maybe that is possible or
....?

Well, I just bought the iPeng software and I haven't had a lot of time
to play around with it yet. Maybe all of these features already are
there and I haven't just managed to figure out how it should be done :)

/Stefan
