I'm using the Silicon Labs 'USB FM Radio Reference Design' (http://www.silabs.com/usbradio) that I bought off the web site. With tax and shipping (TX, USA) it was $43.01
It has worked perfectly on my XP Pro (SP3) system with the downloaded Windows software (once I got the antenna position right) and was recognized by my Ubuntu box as soon as I plugged it in. I haven't listened to it on the Ubuntu box (no speakers) yet; but, I hope to get listening, and possibly the streaming part, working over the weekend. Disclaimer: I don't work for silabs. I don't know if this will work for you.
