This is not Slimdevices fault as they provides all the support needed for standard distributions they support - see the other OS's related files in the directory. If they wanted to provide proper support there should be a QNAP.pm or similar and not modify the vanilla Unix support. Re point 2. I will only support standard configurations that I can test.
