Correct, though the standard MusicIP plugin works in the same method just that it "talks" to the "engine" once to gather a heap of tracks in one go. SugarCube works independently and doesnt require the MusicIP plugin enabled within Squeezecenter with its double scanning overhead. etc (Though much improved in later versions) As you say Apples and Oranges.. you can use SugarCube in place of the standard MusicIP plugin, I certainly dont use it any more but then I'm biased I guess ;) It "talks" to the "engine" via the port http://localhost:10002/ or whatever has been configured via MusicIP headless or the MusicIP GUI frontend and does so at each track change, so it explores your library without being saddled to a static playlist.
