Hi Ralphy and Nathaniel, I've just recently purchased a ps3, which now is connected to my livingroom TV and Hi-Fi stereo amplifier. In the basement, I'm running a networked file server with all mye cds archived in Flac-format, in addation to other multimedia stuff.
What I'd like, is to be able to use the ps3 as a music player, without having to turn my TV on. My idea was to have SqueezeCenter running on the file server, SoftSqueeze/SqueezeSlave or another flavor of player running on the ps3, and control everything with Logitech's SqueezeController. It seems to me that you guys were able to successfully compile and install the SqueezeSlave to run on the ps3, which in my understanding, would make my setup possible. However, I'm pretty new to the whole idea of installing Linux on the PS3 and then further compiling and installing applications on it. I therefore haven't accomplished the same as you guys did yet. Therefore, if one of you would be so kind to compose a step-by-step guide on how to do this, or refer to an existing one on the web, if it exists, I would greatly appreciate it! From all the writing about softsqueeze on the ps3 in the hundreds of other forums I've browsed(offering no solutions...), it seems that there will be countless others out there who would appreciate it, as well... I hope for a positive response!
