No sound probably means you need the additional libraries (these libabriues are included in 7.4)
The libraries can be installed using the download found here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=200b2fd9-ae1a-4a14-984d-389c36f85647&displaylang=en Regarding WMA via iPlayer - they used to work but recently some BBC feeds via iPlayer have been dodgy.
