OK; so I've been unable to listen to live Radio 4 now for several weeks due
to excessive re-buffering.

I have a low bandwidth Internet connection here in the sticks, so when the
problem started I went to the iPlayer Settings and made sure that 'Prefer
WMA Streams' was checked as I assumed (wrongly as it turns out) that on
lower bandwidth systems this is what I was supposed to do. Then I
deselected 'Use AAC Streams' as it says "Deselect if you have difficulty
playing streams".

It didn't help - I gave up listening to radio on my Squeezeboxes to much
disappointment.

Then I got an iPhone and found that I could happily listen to Radio 4 live
using a little iPhone App (FStream) over my WLAN. So I knew it wasn't a
bandwidth or WLAN limitation; and went back to the iPlayer settings and -
just for fun - deselected 'Prefer WMA Streams). Now BBC Radio 4 Live works
perfectly over AAC without any buffering - which I thought imposed a greater
load on the bandwidth!

Weird. This was after an auto-plugin update today - was that to iPlayer
v0.9j?

Weirder - I just looked at FStream on the iPhone - and it streams WMA files!
Quite happily, no buffering.

What has been going on?!
