I just posted squeezeslave/mplayer as that was my setup although I suspected (and it has subsequently been confirmed) that Squeezebox Server is the root of the problem.
For me, this is highly disappointing. My setup consists of a rip/tag/stream server (using my own scripts and Ubuntu, but now playing with Vortexbox) with a high end sound card on board in the lounge, and a squeezebox boom in the bedroom - All controlled by a Duet controller. Essentially I can no longer listen to streaming media in the lounge.
