Smoother and better interface is up to others to judge on.

Both have all of the basic functionality, iPeng generally is more fully
featured if you compare it to the Squeezebox Controller, especially
regarding support for plugins, context menus and things.
Have a look at http://penguinlovesmusic.de for some highlights.

Both currently don't have that. iPeng is planned to support playback in
the next major release, synchronization is something I can't promise,
yet, that's a bit hard to do.
