Hm. I see what you mean, yet I'm completely unable to reproduce it.
My best guess would be that probably something went wrong with the
update (this sometimes happens), you could try to uninstall and
reinstall iPeng.

Which server version do you use (although I fail to see how the server
could be involved in this)?

Could you also (before the uninstall/reinstall) sync your iPod with
iTunes? This way I get the crash logs through Apple.

Have you tried "preserve connection"?
I believe this is router dependent, some kind of race condition. Could
you try to see what happens when cellular is off but WiFi on?

It will probably fail again as soon as your server's IP address changes
then (iPeng reconnects to the last known IP address if server discovery
doesn't work).
Please try to open port 3483 for perl.exe in your firewall. For UDP
packets, at least, not sure about TCP, may be needed, too.
