You might consider buying a Touch. You can plug a USB drive/drive into that as a Touch includes TinySC. My beta version is currently running a 2k album library held in a 1tb USB drive without problems. The Touch should be released in the not-too-distant future.
The TinySC library should be available to a Radio (it is now) but I don't know it will be available to any players older than this.
