The conf files are only read at SBS startup*- so if you make a change then you will have to restart SBS.
The output of the log with player.source set to DEBUG will show the command line being used - so you can confirm whether the command line switches are in effect. What do you mean by "large lag" 2secs, 5 secs, 10 secs, more ?
