No, I believe it is never required to omit the Music Library, your library is just being scanned twice (once to import the MIP data and once the library itself). Yet why don't you use "only read mixable status", do you want to import more tags than just the mix data?
Apart from that, your menus _should_ also show up in iPeng and SqueezePlay. Which "Menu Position" have you chosen?
