I have it working properly in a windowsXP virtual machine running on an Ubuntu installation connecting to a separate Ubuntu server.
The music information was imported from the server (the MySQL connection). You need to check the connection using the three buttons (in order) at the bottom of the options/music sources tab. Make sure you have unbound the database or it won't respond to external request on the MySQL port. You can do this in Muso using the "unbind database" button bottom right on the tab.
