I just subscribed to Spotify Premium to try this out (and also to try spotify on my Android mobile).
For me it seems to need to rebuffer every 5 seconds, so I never get an uninterrupted song (sometimes it will play the first 30s uninterupted!). A bit of a show stopper for me, I'm afraid. My setup is rather unusual, I will admit, and may have a larger network latency than most. The squeeze server I use for casual listening is located on a virtual server somewhere in the cloud (actually I think its physically located in Newark in the US, but the idea being that its always on has my entire collection of music mounted from Amazon S3, so I can get to all my music, all the time, from anywhere) ... my squeezebox is located in my flat in London. I have the Spotify plugin set to play 160kbps from this server and using the network test on the squeezebox I can get a solid 100% upto 192kbps and 100% with occassional drops to to less on 256kps (averaging high 90's) with it dropping to 85% avg on 320kbps. The BBC iPlayer plugin works seemlessly from this server, as does streaming 320kbps MP3 (converted on the fly from the FLAC). It does not seem to be the actual bandwidth at fault here as other stuff of equal or greater bit rate plays fine, I wonder if there is an issue with latency? Ping times from my network to my server in the cloud are between about 85ms and 100ms, so about 20 times higher than within my local network. The server is running Ubuntu 8.04LTS (probably soon to be upgraded to 10.04) and Squeezebox server 7.5.1 r30836. I shall try this later today on my local server which I generally only switch on for high quality FLAC listening. -- weekesd ------------------------------------------------------------------------ weekesd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7216 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79706 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
