>Thanks for the responses. I am still confused about getting >podcasts(ex:Car Talk) onto the "Podcast player". I was of the opinion >that this Podcast Player is where I would want to access various >podcasts. Is there a wiki/guide on Podcast Player usage or is there an >easy way to find and save podcasts to the SBS or to mysb.com? Thank >you. There isn't much functionality in the podcast player; it's almost not worth worrying about. All it does is act as another list like favorites.
This is what to do though on a local SBS server. It is only possible to configure podcasts using the SBS Web UI: 1. You subscribe to a podcast in the by going into Settings > Podcasts, and adding a podcast feed url and pressing Apply. 2. In the SBS Web UI, go to Extras > Podcasts, and you should see the name of each Podcast you have configured in step (1). 3. Clicking on the name of a Podcast should show the list of episodes. 4. Hover on the episode name to reveal Play/Add icons. Click on an episonde name to display details. In reality, this is no different to adding a URL as a favorite. i.e. the configured urls don't need to be podcasts - they can be .opml files. There is no other functionality. It doesn't download podcast episodes, doesn't remember your progress through a podcast, doesn't show which episodes you have played/partially played, etc. Playing a podcast actually streams the music over the internet, so if you get through 3 hours of a podcast and then want to resume another day, it will start again at the start of the episode. The only reason to use this instead of Favorites, is to keep a list of podcasts separated from favorites. Then again, there are advantages of using Favorites instead (in that the Favorites can be edited easier). I think you are better off creating a sub-folder in Favorites called "Podcasts", and adding your podcast feed urls in this folder. You can give your own name to each favorite item, re-order the items, etc. _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
