Again many thanks for the reply. I had never heard about the SheevaPlug before. That is a great way of doing exactly what I want without having to throw out my QNAP :-))) I may even be able to run a parametric equalizer using brutefir, excellent!
Only problem though, it seems difficult to find a place where they have them in stock (I am in Denmark).
