The BBC has announced trials of 320k AAC streams which they are calling
"HD Sound". This is being supported for specific events on Radio 2 and
will become the standard for Radio 3 streaming.

I've just updated the BBCiPlayer so that squeezeboxes can receive these
streams. I would be interested in feedback on what the sound quality is
like.
One of the "Electric Proms" (Neil Diamond) concerts is live this
evening and then will be available with the other two (Elton John and
Robert Plant) are available for listen again.

To try please install the latest version of the BBCiPlayer plugin, and
navigate to the "Special Events" menu at the bottom of BBCiPlayer menu
lists.

BBC Radio 3 live from the standard BBCiPlayer Listen Live menu is now
the 320k stream for users in the uk.

In both cases ensure FlashAAC is enabled on the setting page.
