Ah ok. So this is probably what makes the server bounce from suspend
when my friend is around. I checked with him and he had the "preserve
connection" option selected.
I made him deselect the option.
However he told me he likes that firing up iPeng wakes the server.

His server (I did integration and coding) is multi-purpose and runs a
power manager. For the Squeezebox part it looks like Gharris999's
srvPowerControl in purpose. But it is coded as a system-wide daemon,
the vote to keep awake or go to sleep is a compound of the status on
many services (nfs, afp, samba, backupPC, TimeMachine, SBS, hardware
bits.)
When nothing else is active, the server sleeps after a while when
players are idle. My friend says he often keeps iPeng running on his
iPhone as the foreground app when at home. Licking the screensaver
cover art screen, you know.

If iPeng sends WOL packets regularly, I guess this accounts for the
server bouncing off from suspend when he is at home.

I could (via CLI, some well-known udp/tcp...) detect the presence of
iPeng and keep the server from suspending to avoid the bounce.
Or, *maybe*, iPeng could avoid sending WOL packets when no player is
active and connected to the local server (and then just rest on its
cache) ?

I know I am catering to a niche. Does these developments make any sense
to you, sometime ?
