I think that probably the main benefit of Whitebear is (or was) that: 1) it forced Logitech management to take UPnP/DLNA seriously, 2) it proved that it is possible to add UPnP/DLNA support on top of Squeezebox Server (proof of concept), 3) during my development I pointed out some bugs in prior versions of Squeezebox Server that needed to be fixed in order for UPnP/DLNA functionality to work (some of which have not yet been taken on board, by the way), and 4) they could log the TCP/UDP activities of Whitebear and its dialoogs with the Squeezebox Server CLI, and could thus facilitate reverse engineering their own implementation, and perhaps even use it as a benchmark for their own performance. But whether Logitech would actually admit this, or whether they would ever give me any thanks for it, remains an open question... -- AndrewFG Regards, AndrewFG Try out Whitebear.
