There are several things you can do. For one, having multiple ARTISTSORT tags doesn't necessarily always cause problems. If the tags are written by your tagging software in the correct order (and are maintained in this order if you change something later) then it will work OK. For example:
ARTIST=Bob Smith ARTIST=Mary Johnson ARTISTSORT=Smith, Bob ARTISTSORT=Johnson, Mary Of course, you seldom really have control over the order that the tags are written by tagging software, so it's best avoided. You can also use a separator character, as is used in Mp3 ID3v2 tags, making sure to keep the order corresponding to each artist the same in each. ARTIST=Bob Smith;Mary Johnson ARTISTSORT=Smith, Bob;Johnson, Mary This works in Squeezebox Server, but if you also use the library with software that doesn't recognize the use of separators for this purpose you end up with some odd looking artist names. What I do is just leave ARTISTSORT tags out of tracks with multiple ARTIST tags. The thing to keep in mind is that if Squeezebox Server sees a xxxSORT tag for the contributor name anywhere else in your library, then it will still be sorted by that sort string. For probably 99% of my artists that's the case, so the ARTISTSORT tags don't have to be included for every instance of a contributor's name. The others I just live them as they are. Much of the time they're only track artists, so they're not included in my browse artists list anyway. Doesn't matter how they sort. -- JJZolx ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86178 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
