I have SB Server 7.5.3 running on a win7 machine. I would like to run softsqueeze on an XP machine on my LAN. I installed it and it can't connect to the server. I get the error "connection failed, please check server settings". On the settings page, the server name is disabled and I can't change it. I think that it got something from my server, because the server name it has is the name of my SB Server music library name, but should that be what's listed as the hostname?
I have port 9000 and another one (sorry, forgot the name, but I got the port from a post here) open in my win7 firewall. I can stream from server:9000/stream.mp3 using winamp on my xp machine, but I'm trying to make this very simple for the rest of my family to operate.
