For those of you that know how to write a plugin, I have an idea for a a scheduler, much like the SB alarm, that can be set to trigger player/syncgroup-related events in SBS.
Here are some possible user scenarios: 1) News habit: You always listen to 10 o'clock news, which lasts 15 minutes, so you set up your Radio to do that for you, at a preset volume. 2) Shop owner: Your shop opens at 9:00 every morning except Sunday, so you set up your in-shop Receivers to synchronize and play shop style music, while your back-office Boom plays your favorite radio station. You close shop at 20:00. The Receivers sync to the Boom, so you can listen to your own stuff while cleaning up. At midnight, all players unsync and turn themselves off, ready for the next day. 3) Party geek: You and your friends have an intro theme song for your weekly geek party, so you schedule it to be queued up every friday at eight'o clock. When the guests show up (usually between 20:03:01 and 20:18:44), you simply press Play, and the party is launched. ;) Event examples: * Play * Pause * Stop * Set volume to X * Load playlist X * Load & play playlist X * Play radio station X * Sync/Unsync The flexibility that a well designed scheduler plugin could offer, would help differentiate the already excellent SB family from its competitors. The existing alarm functionality is great IMO, and it can almost do a lot of this, but alarms come with an UI that's optimized for waking people up. If you want any other kind of automation, the alarm UI is not what you want. I don't know if I'm the first or the hundredth to start a thread about this, but anyway I got inspired by the forum thread ''queue' up a station to listen to' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?p=630849). I know, I know, I should really make this thing myself, but I doubt that I'll acquire the competence in the foreseeable future. So I'll just put the idea out here for the taking, in case anyone would want it.
